Cruising on board our

Kenepuru Water Taxi

There is not better way to see the Marborough Sounds!

Explore the Kenepuru Sound:

Take a personalised cruise with Pete and explore the Kenepuru Sound, one of the three sounds that make up the Marlborough Sounds. Visit our mussel farm and learn about how the Greenshell™ are grown and harvested. Pete has been involved with mussel farming from the early 1970's when the farming of the mussels began, and has spent many years working on mussel harvesters and seeding boats for some of the big mussel companies. They also own our mussel farm, so he has first hand knowledge and experience.

See the wreck of the N.Z.T.S. “Amokura” - once a proud sailing ship built in 1889 and ended her life in 1953, on the beach where she now lies. Pete can tell you about the interesting history of this historic little ship.

Cruise past the old guest houses, the airfield, golf course, and the Skiddaw Reserve. This reserve is one of very few stands of native bush that has never been milled and goes to the waters edge.

Bring along your cameras to photograph the colony of Pied Cormorants (Shags). Or just sit and watch them feeding their young and going about their daily lives in their nests, perched in an old birch tree. Sometimes you will also see Gannets and other sea-birds.

Cruise times are normally 1 hour, 1 ½ hours, or 2 hours. But the choice is yours! If there is anything else you are interested in, just ask us, and we can arrange a cruise to suit your individual requirements.
